Growth of a Melbourne Busker: Broadstone
Melbourne Busker turned Musician, Broadstone, is a sponge. He absorbs and takes in everything around him. The man literally lives and breathes music like few others in the local scene.

I thought I’d take a quick moment to reflect on how I described the Melbourne artist the first time I heard him play:
“Broadstone channels elements of John Butler and Bob Dylan rolled into one. The guitar/harmonica combo recalls the folk stylings of early Dylan, the rootsy guitar jamming is John Butler-esque. However, the raw, rustic and earthy vocal tones are all his own.”
“With 2 years of busking experience under his belt, Broadstone has honed his craft, which has shaped him into the gifted musician he is today.”
As someone who’s followed Broadstone since 2015, I can testify that these are not only STILL true statements; they are testaments to the guy’s character. He works hard and believes in growth as an artist.
On “Let Me,” Broadstone’s single from his upcoming EP, Genesis, we are hearing the Melbourne artist grow before our very ears.
Trading in his acoustic guitar for an electric, there is a depth of maturity not heard on previous releases. Having an electric guitar also gives the song another layer of complexity, dynamically, and allows Broadstone the space for his swooning vocals to move soulfully around.
At the same time, Broadstone has stayed true to his busking roots, giving the song a free and playful nature. In some respects, it sounds like Broadstone is having a jam with himself.
Keeping relatively quiet on the inspiration behind the lyrics, Broadstone did let on it was about a girl.
“Haha you really wanna know? Musicians confidence,” the Melbourne artist says with a wink. “It’s more just a war within my own head. Like she’s groovy, but at times a handful.”
Playing gigs around regional Victoria to promote, Broadstone is officially launching ‘Let Me’ at Wesley Anne in Northcote on April 2nd, with the single being available to purchase on April 1st.
