Single Review: Broadstone – Places

Broadstone - Places

Welcome back to your one-stop shop for all things emerging artists in Melbourne! It’s been a long-time between drinks (or rather, blog posts). Today I am talking about local busker and all round legend, Broadstone.

With 2 years of busking experience under his belt, Broadstone, aka Chris Beltrame, has honed his craft which has shaped him into the gifted musician he is today.

Places‘, Broadstone’s debut single, sees the Melbourne artist channeling elements of John Butler and Bob Dylan rolled into one. The guitar/harmonica combo recalls the folk stylings of early Dylan and the rootsy guitar jamming oozes John Butler. However, the raw, rustic and earthy vocal tones are all his own. The tone is earnest and the music itself is melancholic and joyful in equal measure. Combining all these elements, coupled with his busking background and you have a song that is very Melbourne and very grass-roots.

An opening statement for a local musician on the rise.
